Copyright and your image

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Splatter respects creators. Only post photos, videos, scenes, music and sounds that you made or have the right to use. If someone posted your work, or a picture of you, without permission, tell us and we'll take it down if it breaks the rules.

"I made this" when you post

Every upload asks you to confirm: "I made this, or I have the right to use it (photos, video, music and sounds)." It is never ticked for you.

Sounds and music on Splatter

Splatter only has sounds made on Splatter: the original audio of people's own videos (when they allow others to use it), sounds people recorded or made themselves, and a small official Splatter pack. There is no music from other apps or services, and copyrighted songs are not allowed. If one slips in, it is removed everywhere it was used.

Report it in the app

Use the ••• menu on the post (or on a sound's Audio page), choose Report copyright (on iPhone: Report → Copyright), and fill in the short form. As soon as you send it, the post stops being suggested to anyone while we look. This is the fastest way.

Send a copyright notice by email

Email copyright@splatterapp.com (or support@splatterapp.com) with "Copyright notice" in the subject and include:

  1. your name, address, phone number and email;
  2. what work you own (for example a link to where you first published it);
  3. the link(s) to the Splatter post(s) or sound(s) that use it;
  4. this statement: "I believe in good faith that this use is not authorised by the owner, its agent or the law";
  5. this statement: "The information in this notice is accurate, and I am the owner or am authorised to act for the owner";
  6. your full name as a signature.

Designated copyright agent: [TODO for Bilal: name and postal address of the registered DMCA agent].

What we remove

When a report holds up, the post is removed for everyone except its author, who sees that it was removed. If the post's original audio was used by others, that sound is taken down and muted on every post that used it, and those people get a short note. Sending a false notice on purpose may make you legally responsible.

Counter notice: if your post was removed by mistake

Go to Settings → Copyright and strikes and choose Send a counter notice, or reply to our email. Explain why the work is yours or why you may use it, with your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you agree to the courts of your country (or of Pakistan if you live outside it) handling any claim. We may pass your counter notice to the person who reported it and may restore the content if they don't take legal action.

Strikes and repeat infringers

Each upheld copyright report is a strike that lasts 12 months. With 3 active strikes you can't post new photos, videos, stories or sounds until a strike expires. Accounts that keep posting other people's work will be closed. You can see your strikes in Settings → Copyright and strikes.

Pictures of you

If a post shows you in a way you didn't agree to, especially in a private place or in an intimate or embarrassing way, report it in the app or email us. We'll act quickly, and we don't need you to prove you own the copyright.
